Finding Elegant Style as Mom - Five Ways on My Version
As I‘ve mentioned, I am quite new to this journey as I’ve discovered this style during my first year of maternity leave. I realized that I had no concept of style during my younger years; I tend to buy everything that I liked and they’re on sale. I had 20+ fast-fashion bags that in the end took over the space in my bedroom.
To be reminded, I was a student and work-novice. I had spent the half of my salaries to paid my 9000€+ MBA student loan. Once I became a debt-free woman, my source of joys was eating out and traveling while I build stock-portfolio in Indonesia (it was impossible for foreigner to open an account to trade stocks in Germany back in 5 years ago).
Looking back to my childless years, I am quite satisfied that I’ve been to places and experienced things that was quite fun in which I miss sometimes. Maybe the years will come again. I am convinced that life consists in phases…
Anyway long story short, with motherhood I found out another way to spend money 😂 I should say like this. I have no desire to explore the world while having a toddler, I can’t really have free time to go watching concerts, cinemas, dance to the club and not even to fitness studio. Even if I would, there was situations with Covid Pandemic.
Nowadays, one of my happiness source is to look put-together daily and being extra pretty on the weekend on my version; with elegance.
Oh maybe I will just list on my findings. Let’s try…
1. Become Keen on Designer Handbags
It was not a focus of mine until I have the time and financial resources to afford it. Less traveling means lesser money to give out, right 😜 I am started to build collections that according to me, classics. I am fond of low-key luxuries and I dislike over-exposed logos on my bags (or my body after all). For me, big logos look so nouveau riche, too pretentious and so attention-seeker. It would feel like I paid voluntarily thousands of euros just to be a free-walking advertisement from particular brands.
I am not and wouldn’t judge other people who like them but as I’ve said, it’s just not my style. I have no intention to rule out what people should buy. A former friend took things so personal when I said I don’t like LV because most of the monogram but I am here not to mock other’s people style. It’s my opinion and it shouldn’t be relevant to other people as well.
As a proud bargain-hunter, I’ve acquired most entirely of my handbags secondhand through eBay and Vinted. Am I not afraid that they might be fake? I do. They might be, but I have no intention buying fakes through my second hand shopping. At the end of the day, I am only trusting my gut feelings and really cherish the bags while I am using them. They bring the joys to me that 20 fast-fashion bags couldn’t.
Some of them I got through a source. A close friend of mine is working in a luxury, multi-brand boutique in Frankfurt and let say, if I got lucky I could have special prices for luxury items on my wish list.
I buy bags to wear, so I am not collecting and baby them. I love to see them whenever I woke up from the bed and adore what beauties they are. The idea is to have less than 10 bags with staple colors that suit for every occasion. So far I have five of them and I still have three on my Wishlist. The last three are on the very high price-range, so I need to be patient and save a lot to get them. I still have mid-range brands like Coach, Marc Jacobs, Aigner and Furla in my collection since I don’t like the idea to always wear luxury bags everywhere, especially in professional work environment. I wouldn’t dare to imagine I’d wear 4000€ bag to work, my boss would think I wouldn’t need a raise again in the future lol. Also imagine the envy that could happened in between…
